‘Avalon’ marks my first collaboration with director Vincenzo De Jonghe and I hope it won’t be our last. It’s a relevant story about life and love. For more than two years, the 84-year-old Maurice has been taking care of his terminally ill wife, Yvonne. Because of the stress and strain of caring for someone in need of constant supervision, the line between nurturing and torturing is easily crossed. Is the elderly couple still capable of uncovering the tenderness of their bond?
